Although I have never been to these auctions, when I was lucky enough to find their amply illustrated, frequently monographic catalogues, I added them, for well over 20 years, to my personal research library, and was always absolutely thrilled to discover something dealing with my many eclectic interests. They are really UNIQUE identification guides with hard-to-find data, usually containing info about the size, media, dates, styles, signatures, estimated values, and often significant details on the artist or maker. These catalogues are extremely difficult to find because long time knowledgeable collectors around the world had already acquired them through very expensive subscription when they first appeared!

They are absolutely indispensable references, whether you happen to be an appraiser, an investor, a collector, a student working on a term paper or thesis, a teacher who wants more diversity in presenting concepts with concrete examples -- maybe you want to try to identify what Grandma has stashed in the attic, or that lovely item you discovered at a yard sale or local country auction -- perhaps you have a shop, might call yourself an expert, researching the different styles of certain things/makers -- hey, even just for a world-traveled packrat like I was in my prime, they always offer exciting new vistas of beauty, creativity and information that I could find nowhere else.

WOWSERS!! If you have enjoyed the other decoy references I have offered online over the last 5+ years, this one will knock the socks off your webbed feet! A super superb assemblage of some of the finest examples of bird carvings from the most classical carvers from Maryland, Connectucut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Illinois, New Jersey, Canada, and other places!

You will be quacking up! ALL of the exceptional photos are in vibrant color, and include some old pics of several traditional carvers, as well as of Russell and some of the rooms in his apparently luxurious home! If I appear to be very gung ho about this and my other online offereings, I AM! I am NOT a business peep, nor a bookseller, but I have been interested in everything I list since I was a kid -- they were my ONLY passtimes and passions, and many still are (not that I have a real lot of spare time for my hobbies over the past few years while selling online!).

On the decoy index page you will find some of the other decoy tomes from my library collection being offered, and I may also list well-illustrated sporting gun and sporting art books, which are essential tools for every enthusiast / collector. A necessary addition to your sources of information about vintage decoys so that you may update and complete your personal computer database of carver/artisans and regional models/species, both in fine photographs as well as in accompanying details.

WAY KEWL! Scan a lot of the multitude of images contained herein, use some standard computer software to make your own database and burn a CD or DVD with as many species and makers and accompanying data which can be found in this and other sources! Start sharing your knowledge with all your pals.
