this is a stock scan -- your copy number is stated below "Copy No. [ask] of one thousand copies constituting the First Edition" "First Edition 1981" Personal Observations -- WOWSERS !! I am very pleased to be able to offer my online patrons one of several major works by or about Dr. Imannuel Velikovsky, best known for his scientific publications concerning what is usually termed Catastrophism. Check my seller's list every week or so for other related volumes in my stash that I have duplicates of. Those of my loyal item followers have already read about my personal acquaintenance with Immanuel Velikovsky, who lived in Princeton, New Jersey, not far from me [incidently, here is a larger photo of the relief bust in the header that Evelio did of Velikovsky in 1980 > -- CLICK ]. One of his collaborators was also a even closer neighbor and lived a block away when I lived in South Trenton! Al de Grazia, and his lovely French wife, Ami, (who is a writer of French novels) were gracious hosts innumerable times, and Al was always bubbling over with excitement about his latest projects, which were frequently numerous. He published many of his books privately through the Princeton University Press -- most were in Limited Editions of 500 to 1000 copies, some numbered, others not. The ones in my own research library are all autographed by him, naturally. Since they travelled frequently, I was the one in charge of processing the book orders as they came in and was paid in books, not in money, which was perfect for me, a long time book lover! Here is a pic of one of their last visits to Trenton -- the photo was taken in 1999 inside my then closed art and antique gallery with a background of some of the vintage clocks in my collection -- L > R : Ami, Al -- both of whom are always remarkably unassuming
They now both spend their time between Naxos, a Greek island [where Evelio visited their enchanting near beach home and sculpted a bust of Al many years ago], and an apartment in Paris. Antiquarian Book in EXCELLENT+ Condition!! |
