Limited first edition" "This is the first edition of God's Fire and is published in three hundred and fifty copies, of which this is Number. [ask]" Personal Observations -- WOWSERS !! I am very pleased to be able to offer my online patrons one of several major works by or about the ideas of Dr. Imannuel Velikovsky, known to the general public for his best selling books about what is usually called Catastrophism, having ramifications in physics, astronomy, geology, evolution, climate, psychology, mythology, cultural anthropology, religion, classical literature and other disciplines. Check my seller's list every week or so for other related volumes in my stash that I have duplicates of. Allow me to make a personal observation that I find connects with the image of the sculpture of Moses on the front cover [by Klaus Sluter, at Chartreuse de Champmol, Dijon, France, 1404] -- notice what many call the two horns on his head. Some 20+ years ago I attended an esoteric workshop in New York City having to do with aura recognition and dowsing. As the teacher from California was explaining the best background against which one might observe auras easily, I took off my glasses to clean them and looked up at him -- HE HAD TWO BLUE OSCILLATING HORNS ON HIS HEAD! I was somewhat amazed, it sent shivers up and down my spine and I raised my hand, telling him what I was seeing. He replied that I was sensitive enough to be able to see the psychic electrical energy flowing from him, and mentioned THIS statue of Moses with the "horns" -- curiously, he looked around at the 30 or so students and said that I was the ONLY one in the class that manifested this energy flow -- naturally everybody started staring at me, which made me slightly uncomfortable. I still find it absolutely amazing! Those of my loyal item followers have already read about my personal acquaintenance with Immanuel Velikovsky, who lived in Princeton, New Jersey, not far from me. One of his collaborators was also a even closer neighbor and lived a block away when I lived in South Trenton! Al de Grazia, and his lovely French wife, Ami, (who is a writer of French novels) were gracious hosts innumerable times, and Al was always bubbling over with excitement about his latest projects, which were frequently numerous. He published many of his books privately through the Princeton University Press and elsewhere -- most were in Limited Editions of about 300 to 1000 copies, some numbered, others not. The ones in my own research library are all autographed by him, naturally. Since they travelled frequently, I was the one in charge of processing the book orders as they came in and was paid in books, not in money, which was perfect for me, a long time book lover! Here is a pic of one of their last visits to Trenton -- the photo was taken in 1999 inside my then closed art and antique gallery with a background of some of the vintage clocks in my collection -- L > R : Ami, Al -- both of whom are always remarkably unassuming
They now both spend their time between Naxos, a Greek island [where Evelio visited their enchanting near beach home and sculpted a bust of Al many years ago], and an apartment in Paris. Antiquarian Book in EXCELLENT+ Condition!! |
