About This Antiquarian
Book |
This Antiquarian LONG OUT OF PRINT Antiquarian auction catalogue lists and describes 312 Lots, MOST of which appear to be illustrated, of heavenly Space Exploration Memorabilia ! "Primary material of great importance from all eras of the American program is also on offer, with many items unique or almost impossible to obtain. Included are rare flight plans, mission plans and operation manuals fron the Apollo program, Grissom's Apollo I notebook, checklists for procedures on the lunar surface for Apollo II, actually flown to the lunar surface, flown rocket engines from the Gemini space craft, a flown NASA emblem coated with lunar dust, and perhaps most striking of all, Neil Armstrong's A5L Apollo spacesuit. "...with material from Buzz Aldrin, Cooper, Cunningham, Mitchell, Schirra and Stafford as well as the Grissom, Irwin, Conrad and Slayton Estates." "Of course, no sale of Space Exploration material would be complete without representing the Russian contributions to space travel and one of our last two final lots acknowledges them in outstanding fashion. Rightfully called 'the father of astronautics,' Konstantin Tsiolkovski predicted the use of rockets, spacesuits and solar energy for space travel generations before anyone else and profoundly influenced the Russian space program. We are excited to offer an extraordinarily rare Tsiolkovski manuscript in this sale that depicts a quite convincing diagram of an EVA, drawn in 1911. Unbelievable perhaps, but he would have found much in the following pages very familiar......." Included are -- watches, spacecraft hatch shingle, heatshield segment, control panel instruments, command module equipment stowage locker, blueprints, American and Russian space suits as well as a Vostok I ejection pilot seat, gloves, helmet, flightsuits, manuals, engine model, rocket and vehicle models, flags, orbital maps, switch position slide rule, patches, coins, signed photographs, postcards, books, and MUCH more!
